Small Changes That Have Big Impact On Your Smile

You don’t smile very often because you’re ashamed of the way your smile looks. Maybe your teeth are discolored or you have missing or crooked teeth.

Many people don’t take steps to fix their smiles because they assume they would need extensive work to get a beautiful, movie star smile. But that may not be true. Some of the most drastic changes you can make to your smile take the shortest amount of time.

Call Dores Dental in Longmeadow, MA, for a consultation and we can talk to you about some of the tweaks we can make to your smile so you can start using it again.

Don’t Underestimate The Power Of A Smile

Research has shown that we find people more attractive when they’re wearing a smile. A person with a wide, beaming smile seems more approachable and pleasant that someone who doesn’t smile.

Remember the lyrics from that old song: “You can turn the world on with a smile”? It’s true. A smile has special powers and is contagious. Have you ever had a baby look at you and smile? Didn’t that make you want to smile right back?

You’re not just missing out on social connections when you don’t smile. Smiling can make you feel better. Smiling releases serotonin, the chemical responsible for producing feelings of happiness and well-being.

A smile is a great ice-breaker in the business world. It makes you more approachable and people will be more drawn to you.

How Can I Get That Beautiful Smile?

What if we told you that you could change the things you don’t like about your smile with some fairly minor tweaks? At Dores Dental, located in Longmeadow, MA, we can do just that.

A lot of the time, your teeth won’t require drastic work in order to give you a smile you’re proud of. There are lots of (fast and easy) treatments, like whitening, or bonding that can fix minor imperfections and give you the confidence to smile as much as you want.

Here are a couple of options:

Teeth Whitening

Your teeth can become discolored for a lot of reasons — smoking and drinking tea or coffee are just a few of the reasons. You could have strong, healthy teeth but if they’re discolored it can take away from the beauty of your smile.

Teeth whitening is a tweak you can make that is not overly expensive or time-consuming.

If your smile could benefit from a little brightening and whitening, Dr. James Dores can help. In his Longmeadow, MA office, Dr. Dores uses Zoom, one of the most advanced whitening systems available.

Your teeth can become discolored for a lot of reasons — smoking and drinking tea or coffee are just a few of the reasons. You could have strong, healthy teeth but if they’re discolored it can take away from the beauty of your smile.

While actual results vary depending on the current color and condition of your teeth, Zoom usually whitens teeth up to 8 shades after one session. Dr. Dores will apply a professional-strength peroxide gel to your teeth. The gel is then activated by UV light to remove deep-seated stains and spots.

Dental Crowns

It’s amazing how one problem tooth can make you self-conscious about your entire smile. Because of that, some people get into the habit of not smiling or smiling with a hand in front of their face.

One option for fixing that bothersome tooth is a dental crown. A dental crown is a restoration that is used to rebuild a tooth that is severely damaged. A crown encases the entire tooth and brings back function and appearance.

We offer traditional crowns where we’ll make an impression of your teeth, send it off to have your tooth made, and then in a couple of weeks place it in your mouth.

We also offer same day dental crowns. That means you can come in for a crown appointment and leave with a finished crown in under two hours.

Dr. Dores uses the revolutionary CEREC (Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic) system to do this. With a same day dental crown, Dr. Dores will use a little camera to get 3D images. These images are then forwarded to a milling machine that will carve the crown out of a block of ceramic. All in a matter of hours!
