Pregnancy and Your Dental Health [video]
If you’re pregnant, you’re probably thinking about how your baby’s developing, if you’re eating right, what you’re going to name the new addition to your family, and getting that nursery ready. Your teeth and gums may be the last thing on your mind. But it’s important to think about not only your own oral health, but your baby’s.
Your little one’s teeth actually begin forming in utero, so it’s vital that you get enough calcium when you’re expecting. It’s also important to visit the dentist for regular checkups and get an adequate amount of folic acid, which can help protect your gums against a condition called pregnancy gingivitis. Watch this video from the American Dental Association to learn more about how pregnancy affects oral health.
