Invisalign Changes Lives One Smile At A Time
Invisalign Changes Lives One Smile At A Time
Lisa was a new patient at our Longmeadow dental practice. She had recently moved to the area and had come in for a cleaning and exam, you know, the usual stuff. As we were getting acquainted, we started talking about the spacing of her teeth. It turns out that Lisa had always been bothered, and somewhat embarrassed, by the way her smile looks.
The thing is, she said, she was too old for braces. Not true, we countered. In fact, we have a way for grown-ups to get a better smile through orthodontics that doesn’t require any of the old-time hassles. Lisa lit up when we told her about Invisalign and all of the possibilities it might hold for her.
The Invisalign treatment is a great procedure. We love introducing folks to Invisalign, the Dores Dental team loves seeing what Invisalign can do for our patients, and the patients love it too.
Lisa is now on a transformative journey, that is almost complete. You see, with Invisalign, you don’t have to wait around for 2-3 years to get the smile you want. Instead, the entire process only takes about 12 months, depending on what you are dealing with, in terms of orthodontic issues. But we are getting ahead of ourselves.
It all starts with a consultation between you and the dentist. When you get here, we will perform a thorough examination of your mouth and jaw, and take 3D images of your teeth. These images are pieced together to create a model of your current smile and your dream smile, as well as the necessary steps in-between. Before your orthodontic treatment even gets off the ground, you can see the big picture and understand the significance of all the moving parts. Don’t you just love newfangled technology?!
After we all approve the projected model, we will send it off to the Invisalign company where they will create the custom-built aligners that do all the heavy lifting. A few days later, you will be wearing your first set of aligners. Each aligner should be worn every day for about two weeks, and then switched out. You will be the one keeping up with the switches. There won’t be any painful office visits to get you gear adjusted.
You will need to wear your aligners most of the day, everyday. But unlike metal wires and brackets, your aligners are not installed indefinitely. They can be removed when the dinner bell rings, or when you need to rinse them off. In fact, rinsing is all that is required to keep the aligners clean. You won’t even have to pack special tools for cleaning your orthodontic hardware. And no food will ever get trapped in your aligners, so you won’t have to change your eating habits.
Honestly it couldn’t get much easier to straighten out the issues in your mouth. But wait, it actually does get better. Since Invisalign aligners are made of a smooth, clear plastic, they are virtually invisible to the outside world. As such, no one will know about the project in your mouth. That means you won’t have to answer any questions or endure rude comments from your peers.
When your treatment is complete, in a year or so, everyone will be amazed by the gorgeous smile that magically appeared in your mouth.
Lisa is almost there. She can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And we are confident that her story will have a happy ending. Why not get a happy ending for yourself?
