Meet the Doctor

For Dr. James Dores, dentistry is about much more than just fixing teeth. In fact, his real satisfaction comes from using his dental skills to enrich the lives of both his patients in Longmeadow, and those he serves around the world, as was the case during his recent mission trip to Peru (with another dental mission trip planned for Costa Rica in the near future!).

In addition to his mission trips to other countries, Dr. Dores also enjoys helping patients in the Longmeadow area by hosting an annual Dentistry from the Heart event, in which his office provides thousands of dollars worth of free dental care to patients who otherwise would not be able to receive it.

Being an exceptional dentist really isn’t about teeth at all. While dental health is certainly important, at Dores Dental the goal is to improve your overall health and increase your self-confidence, and dentistry is a great tool to accomplish just that.

Dr. Dores has been practicing general and family dentistry for over 7 years in the central and western parts of Massachusetts, helping patients of all ages get the quality dental care they need.

I’ve been a dentist here at this practice almost five years. I was an associate dentist in other offices in the area, for about four years prior to that. I love having my own practice because I can create opportunities for people, I can bring in lots of new patients. It’s wonderful to be able to help as many people as possible; that’s what the rewarding thing about dentistry is.

In 2006, he completed his general dentistry residency at the UCONN Health Center in Farmington, CT. Then in early 2010, Dr. Dores joined the practice of Drs. Leveton and Leiter in Longmeadow, MA. Currently, he owns the practice and loves providing general and family dentistry to his patients.

Dr. Dores is passionate about completing continuing education courses. To advance his expertise with dental implant treatment planning, he completed the Biomet 3i Synergy Training Program. To stay current with the latest dental technology and trends, Dr. Dores holds membership in: the American Dental Association (ADA), Massachusetts Dental Society, and the Valley District Dental Society.

In his spare time, Dr. Dores also enjoys lakeside activities such as slalom waterskiing, jet skiing and fishing with his children. When it gets too cold to hit the lake, the Dores family can be found in the New England mountains enjoying skiing and a variety of other winter activities.

The most rewarding thing is giving patients their smile back. Patients coming in, not being able to smile because they have a crooked tooth or a chipped tooth, and being able to fix that in under two hours and have them leave and resume their normal life is incredibly rewarding. Making patients feel comfortable with their experience is rewarding. Changing someone’s view of dentistry is rewarding.
