Save Yourself Time With Same-day Crowns

Here’s a common scenario for millions of Americans. You’ve had the mark on your calendar for months: You have a visit with the dentist early Monday morning before you start your work week and you need a crown. It’s a procedure you’ve been told will take two to three visits and require you to wear a temporary crown. Did you ever wonder why placing a crown takes so many visits?

The good news is that the treatment does not have to take so many visits. In fact, we now have a way to place a crown in just one visit. That’s right, we can prepare and place a crown all in one day. At Dores Dental, we use a machine called CEREC to help us repair damaged teeth in about 90 minutes. Our dental team has studied this treatment for years and is able to provide strong, natural-looking restorations that will last for years.

Restore Your Teeth With Same-Day Crowns

Dental crowns are often needed to repair heavily damaged teeth or to restore teeth following root canal therapy. We also use dental crowns to restore dental implants, which provide patients about 90 percent of the chewing power of natural teeth. Crowns have been used in dentistry for decades, and since then, we have perfected the function and beauty of dental crowns.

CEREC same-day crowns are durable and match the natural shade of your smile. CEREC combines a design and milling machine that allows us to design and create your restoration in one visit. Instead of waiting weeks – or even months – you can walk out of our office with a permanent restoration after just one visit. The process is very easy for the patient. First, we prepare the tooth and take impression to fit the natural restoration. Once the impression is taken, we send it to a milling station in order to design the permanent restoration. In just 90 minutes, you have a permanent crown that will restore your tooth and help improve the health of your mouth.

Advantage of Same-Day Crowns vs. Traditional Crowns

The biggest advantage of providing same-day crowns is that patients do not have to spend weeks or months wearing temporary crowns. Temporary crowns are typically made from an acrylic material that often does not match your smile. Temporary restorations are typically smaller than permanent restorations, which makes it more difficult for patients to chew their food or properly clean their teeth. If you have had a traditional crown placed, chances are you have experienced all of these problems.

Our patients are happy to hear that they no longer have to wear a temporary restoration while their permanent crown is being created. In fact, our office has found that patients are more willing to repair their teeth with a crown when they have access to our CEREC same-day crown machine. Instead of being forced to visit the dental office two or three times, they can complete their dental care in one visit. That’s a huge benefit to patients who have families are regular 9-to-5s.

Dores Dental is one of the few dental offices in the area to offer same-day crowns. In fact, a recent study showed that only 10 to 15 percent of dental offices across the country offer same-day dental crowns.
